Just one of the many pre-1965 hot rods on display in Big Horn over the weekend.

It was all about tradition at the Absoraka State Takeover 307 Custom Car Show held outside the Bozeman Trail Inn in Big Horn on Saturday.  Forty-six vintage hot rods and customs built before 1965 lined the main drag in Big Horn for onlookers and car enthusiasts alike.

There’s a new car club in town and they’re all about the pre-1965 vintage hot rods.  Welcome the Moonshiners and its president Scott Stalick, who explains what traditional hot rods are about.

No muscles cars here.  It’s all about soul.

The Fin Car Guy, Curt Crackenberger was there showing his ‘fin’ truck – those Chryslers with the big tail fins on the back.  Cars are his passion, but no 'Chevy's'...please.

As for the name of the event, it's in honor of a piece of this area's unique history. In 1939, a group of people in Sheridan wanted to form their own state called Absoraka, because they felt they were not getting a fair share of the state funding. Sheridan would have been the capital and Absoraka would have been the 49th state and called the nation’s playground.
