Mullinax Inc. is expanding its coal offerings in Sheridan and will open a new processing and retail facility located on Fort Road on Monday, December 5.

Nathan Mullinax said that Mullinax has sold coal for 25 years, but that involved buying the coal from others who processed it. He explains how their new relationship with Decker Coal will benefit Sheridan.

(Audio:) "Now we're just doing the whole gamut all the way to the finished product," Mullinax said. "They [Decker] have always done that up in Montana. I think the exciting part is that it's a new facility, new to Sheridan, that's going to create a lot of jobs."

Mullinax said the new facility will offer 18 to 20 new jobs in Sheridan. Decker Coal will ship the coal to Sheridan for sale at the new facility. Decker had processed through Wolf Mountain Coal in Montana, but was unhappy with the agreement so they approached Mullinax asking if they would process and sell for them instead.

The facility is located just past Mullinax Concrete Irrigation and Construction Supply at 615 Fort Road. They will compress lump coal, pea coal and industrial coal and sell to five states in the region.
