Sheridan and Buffalo will both participate in “Movember” to raise awareness of men's health issues, to get people talking about them and most importantly, to get men to act on them and get their necessary tests and checkups to keep themselves healthy.
Movember is the month where men shave and/or grow their mustaches for 30 days to outwardly display their support and show the world their “ribbon for men's health.”
Kick off events are scheduled for Thursday night November 1st at the Occidental Hotel in Buffalo, and at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Conference Room in Sheridan.
At Buffalo's kick off, there will be giveaways and educational health informationand in Sheridan, Dr. Ian Hunter will discuss men's health issues and some lucky locals are expected to participate in the kickoff shaving event.
Julia Bettinger, Program Manager for Region 2 with Wyoming Cancer Resource Services in Buffalo, tells us more about what happens during the month.
The month will conclude with games, prizes and the crowning of “Mr. Movember” on Thursday, November 29th at Black Tooth Brewery in Sheridan and Saturday, December 1 at the Occidental in Buffalo right after the Christmas Parade.
