The City of Buffalo, State Engineers' Office and Johnson County Emergency Management have entered into an agreement to perform an exercise on the failure of Tie Hack Dam.
Buffalo Mayor Randy Dyess gives more details on the exercise.
The State Engineers' Office will conduct the exercise with the help of city, county, law enforcement and emergency personnel to see how prepared each entity is in the event of a real emergency, and correct problems that may crop up during the exercise.
No specific date has been set for the exercise, but it is expected to happen in November. More details will be released on the exercise as they become known.
The MOU agreement, or Memorandum Of Understanding, was signed by the Mayor after the council's approval at their last meeting.
