The Office of State Land and Investments has requested that the City of Sheridan and the SAWS Joint Power Board enter a memorandum of understanding regarding the treatment upgrades for the Big Goose and Sheridan Water Treatment Plants. The project has not yet begun, as it's expected to be bid in the next month or so. SAWS Project Manager Dan Coughlin explains why the MOU request was made by the state.
The upgrades to both treatment plants are to meet EPA requirements for the removal of cryptosporidium from the raw water supply. The estimated cost of the project is $5.9 million with a target completion date of October 2013.
