With all the recent hot weather in Sheridan and forecasts that it will stay that way for a while, mosquitoes are out in full force. But so is the Weed and Mosquito Control Department within city limits.

Residents might see a truck in the evening spraying to kill adult mosquitoes. Bill Russell, weed and mosquito foreman for the City, explains what they're doing.

He says the city, with the Sheridan Recreation District and the Weed and Mosquito Department, also check bodies of water within city limits – and if needed – treat the water to prevent mosquito larva from growing. Russell says there are different types of mosquitoes common in the area.

Russell says the hotter the weather is, the more likely the disease carrying mosquitoes come out. We'll have more on how to control mosquitoes yourself on Thursday.
