As we reported yesterday, Sheridan's own Miss Wyoming USA, Courtney Gifford, will be headed to the Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas later this week to represent the Cowboy State. In a part two of a series based on her exclusive interview with Sheridan Media, we learn more about Gifford's accomplishments - and what she's overcome.
Gifford entered the pageant world while still in high school, earning Miss Wyoming's "Outstanding Teen" in 2005. She was crowned as Miss Wyoming USA earlier this year and says her success should be an inspiration to those who, like her, have battled a learning disability.
She says symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder - or ADHD - made it hard to connect in a meaningful way with other women while she was growing up.
And she has this message for those who might be struggling with a disability of their own.
Gifford will be leaving Friday to represent Wyoming in the Miss USA pageant, which will air on June 16 at 7 p.m. on NBC.
