The 2013 Miss America competition was held this weekend in Las Vegas. Miss Wyoming Lexie Madden did very well at the competition, as she placed third-runner up. The Torrington native impressed judges with her platform, “Raising Awareness of the Importance of Physical Activity in Youth,” and her original composition on piano during the talent competition. Madden was the first Miss Wyoming to make the top five since Carol Held was named first-runner up in 1948. Miss New York, Mallory Hytes Hagan was crowned Miss America.
