The Decker Coal mine, located about 35 miles northeast of Sheridan, has been in operation for 40 years and at one time was the largest coal mine in the state of Montana. Last November, Ambre energy acquired 50 percent of the mine and essentially saved it from shutting down production aside from a little bit of retail sales.
Decker Coal Mine Manager Tim Fagley says that they've got their sites set on increased production.
Aside from increased production for domestic sales, they are working on getting into the export market.
We'll hear more from Fagley on Monday, as he'll explain why the coal in the Powder River Basin is a perfect match for the market in Asia.
