Twenty-three deployed military families of Sheridan and Johnson counties were honored at a Christmas Party last Saturday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church’s Parish Hall. The Republican Women of Sheridan County, along with their friends and families, hosted the party.
Santa and Mrs. Claus, one of Santa’s elves, and many of Santa’s helpers entertained the parents and children and served the snacks. Mrs. Claus read stories to the children while waiting for Santa’s sleigh to arrive. Forty-six children each received a present from Santa, chosen especially for each girl or boy and their age.
The afternoon included musical performances by the Sheridan High School Honor choir, Barbara and Mo Campbell, and Leslie Viren.
The party was held to provide a celebration for the families of servicemen who could not be at home for the holidays. The event was open to all military families and over 80 people attended. The Republican Women said the party would not have been possible without the dozens of volunteers and generous donations from the community.
