LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - A memorial service will be held next week in Laramie for 19-year-old University of Wyoming football player Ruben Narcisse, who was killed in a Labor Day car accident in Colorado. The service for the freshman linebacker is planned for 5 p.m. Monday at the UniWyo Sports Complex.
This Saturday, the University of Texas at Austin plays host to the Cowboys, and the #5-ranked Longhorns plan to pay tribute to Narcisse before the game. Texas coach Mack Brown says the tribute will include a moment of silence and Narcisse's photograph on will be displayed Texas' massive scoreboard video screen. The Texas band will also play a song for the Wyoming team.
The Wyoming team plans to wear helmet decals with Narcisse's initials.
Three other Wyoming players were injured in the accident. The Colorado Highway Patrol says the four young men were traveling in a pickup on U.S. 287 south of the Wyoming state line early Monday morning when the driver apparently fell asleep. Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors.
