A public meeting hosted by Johnson County School District No. 1 will be held tonight at 5:30 pm in the Clear Creek Elementary School gym to take public comments and answer questions relating to the decommissioning of the school building.
The school district will discuss options for the building, including letting it revert back to the City of Buffalo; selling the building to an interested party; or, keeping the building for future use by the district.
School Superintendent Dr. Rod Kessler explains more about the meeting.
A number of entities are interested in the building, including Sheridan College in Johnson County, the Boys and Girls Club of the BigHorns and a number of private ventures as well.
The school district will still use the Clear Creek Elementary building for at least one more school year, Kessler said, until they can occupy the new Cloud Peak Elementary School, which is scheduled to be ready in the fall of 2013.
