In a race that had three different candidates in the lead at one point throughout the evening, the Republican Candidate for Wyoming Governor will be Matt Mead. The margin was very slim, as Mead beat out fellow republican Rita Meyer by just 714 votes. Immediately after the unofficial results came in, Mead was quick to thank those that were behind him throughout the entire campaign.
Mead says that he was surrounded by friends and family on what was no doubt a very nerve racking evening.
Mead will face Democratic Candidate Leslie Petersen in the General Election on November 2nd. Petersen won her primary with 48% of the vote.
