Former Wyoming legislator Rodger McDaniel who wrote the book “Dying for Joe McCarthy's Sins: The Suicide of Wyoming Senator Lester Hunt” says he's enthused by the book's reception and looking forward to being in the area this week.
His book has taken on, what some might say a life of its own, with the mock trials being staged throughout the country, including in Sheridan, today. He talked about the book this week with Sheridan Media's Kim Love on the Public Pulse news talk show.
The mock trial, called “Trial of Joe McCarthy,” begins at 7 tonight in the C-TEL room at Sheridan College. The event's being presented by the Sheridan County Museum. Organizers say the goal of the mock trial will be to examine Hunt's suicide and the dirty politics that plagued the 1950s. For the mock trial, McCarthy faces the charges of aggravated blackmail in connection to Hunt's death.
Author McDaniel will be on hand to sign books, which will be available for $20, or in advance at the museum. The event is free, but donations will be accepted.
