Man Arrested For Firing Taser During Barfight

A Sheridan man was arrested Saturday night after an altercation at Willey’s Lounge. 54-year-old Timothy Schaeffer made his initial appearance in Sheridan County Circuit Court yesterday to face charges of aggravated assault and battery. Schaeffer is alleged to have been involved in an argument during a card game at the bar on Saturday.

Schaeffer is charged with physically attacking a fellow card player. While the victim went to the bathroom to try and clean his bloody nose, Schaeffer allegedly pulled out a gun and started pointing it at other bar patrons. When the gun was finally taken away, court documents say Schaeffer still threatened several bar patrons before searching out his original victim in the bathroom.

Once there Schaeffer is accused of firing a taser weapon several times at his original victim. Authorities determined the gun was a flare gun and the taser had a red light on it when it was seized. The red light indicates the weapon had been recently fired.

Schaffer faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
