State Representative for House District 40, Mike Madden (R-Buffalo)will be updating us on the happenings during this year's legislative session that began this week.
After the first week, a surprise he said, are the number of private bills in the area of education, varying from privacy to who should be setting education standards to Common Core, and he expects more education bills are coming to be considered.
Madden said it has been busy during this first week of the Legislature, and explains further.
He said the budget looks to be “something that everyone can live with,” and applauded the appropriations committee as having done an excellent job with the budget. It may only require a few adjustments before it is passed, and this year may be one where the budget consumes little time during the session.
He touched briefly on the Critical Air Service program, that Sheridan's Airport is hoping the Legislature will add funds to.
Representative Madden will have another report from the legislative session next week.
