A fisherman reported missing was found alive last Saturday in Outlaw Canyon west of Kaycee after spending three days there unable to hike out.
According to Johnson County Undersheriff Kerry Wolf and Deputy Leigh Braley, Johnson County Search and Rescue, Sheridan County Search and Rescue and the Wyoming Game and Fish all coordinated their search in the Outlaw Canyon/Hole-in-the-Wall area, after the man's family reported he had mentioned wanting to fish the area.
After his family realized he was missing, they contacted officials and the search began. Game and Fish employees found his truck at the Outlaw Cave Campground and they hiked into the canyon where the 70-year old fisherman from Pennsylvania was found alive but cold and dehydrated.
Braley tell us more.
Braley said the man was going fishing and just wasn't prepared for the weather conditions.
Undersheriff Wolf said the three agencies that responded to the rescue coordinated their efforts and should be commended for their cooperation with each other.
He also pointed out the importance of telling someone where you are going when venturing into the outdoors.
The 70-year old fisherman, after being Life-Flighted from the rim of the canyon to Casper, was checked and released in good condition.
