A Look Back in Time: April 21, 1914

Disagreeable weather the past two days has forced the city to postpone the annual Clean-up Day.

The event was scheduled to start tomorrow. But rain began yesterday and has continued today, with officials predicting more stormy weather to come. Clean-up Day has been rescheduled to start on April 28.

A thief entered the large harness shop of Otto F. Ernst on South Main Street last night. After breaking a rear window to gain entry, the robber changed his old shoes, which were small, for a pair of new ones. Also missing this morning are a pair of white angora chaps, several spurs, revolver scabbards, belts and assorted other small wares.

The last of the hobo gang that was rounded up earlier this week was escorted to the eastern boundary of Sheridan yesterday afternoon, and told to keep out of the city. All but two of the gang have been similarly escorted out. However, two men have been detained, one for carrying a gun, and the other for being an agitator.
