The television series “Longmire,” which is based on the books by Ucross author Craig Johnson, is returning to New Mexico for filming.

The A&E Network drama is scheduled to begin production on its third season this spring, according to the New Mexico Film Office. Officials say the series will be filmed in and around Santa Fe and at Garson Studios at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design.

Longmire is a crime drama based on Johnson's "Walt Longmire" mystery novels series. The TV series, which is produced by Warner Horizon Television, stars Robert Taylor, Lou Diamond Phillips and Katee Sackhoff.

All the leading actors in the series are expected to be in Wyoming this summer, for Longmire Days, which is held annually in Buffalo, the town the author based his own fictitious town on in the books.
