Although wet at times due to scattered thundershowers, Saturday's Longmire Day in Buffalo was a big draw for both locals and out-of-towners alike.

Craig Johnson, local author of the Longmire series of mystery books based on people and places in Northeast Wyoming, was on hand most of the day to visit, sign merchandise and talk about the books, the television series, and whatever else happened to come up.

He said he was excited when the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce approached him about doing a Longmire Day, and he looks forward to doing more of these in the future, with some possible help from his friends.

He explains.

Johnson said the show was recently picked up for a second season, which was exciting news for him, and fans of the books and TV show.

As well as meeting Johnson, people could buy merchandise, books, have their picture taken in the “Absaroka County Jail,” and take part in the “Sheriff Longmire Look-alike Contest,” which was won by Buffalo's Scott Madsen.

Johnson then took part in the “Longmire at the Library” event at the Johnson County Library later that evening.
