It took several meetings between the Sheridan County Planning & Zoning Commission and the Sheridan County Commission, before the Lomax Land & Cattle Co. quarry permit was granted, but granted it was at this morning's County Commission meeting. Commissioner Bob Rolston comments.
Nineteen conditions were adopted as part of the permit approval, which address dust control issues, hours of operation, signage limitations, truck load and speed limits, excavation controls, to name a few.
During the public comment portion of the meeting, concern was raised regarding the number of times per week screening and round-trip truck traffic takes place. The condition list indicates that for the former, 3 days a week would be permitted, and for the latter, 8 times would be allowed. Commissioners were quick to point out that those are averages.
The permit shall be effective for seven years, beginning June 15th, with a biannual BOCC public review every two years on compliance.
