A faculty member from the Sheridan College music department played in a prestigious group over the Memorial Day weekend.
Dr. Michael Flynn performed as part of a featured group at the 2014 International Tuba Euphonium Conference in Indianapolis.
As an ensemble member, Flynn was selected from a pool of 300 applicants to perform, representing Sheridan College. He and the Blue Lake Brass Quintet played a new work written by world-renowned composer Brian Balmages.
Flynn said being included was “an amazing honor to premiere and be the part of a new work of brass quintet.” He said he couldn't imagine a better opportunity, as a Sheridan College faculty member, to represent the program and be a key part of the creation of quality music.
