The families of about 50 children in Sheridan are possibly a little happier today because their child received an extra gift from the local police department.
Sheridan Police Sgt. Tom Henry said their “Cops for Kids” shopping spree held earlier in the month allowed them to take 46 children shopping, because of this year's large donation of cash. Typically, in the past three years, he said, they've given $50 to 30 children.
He said they find the children and their families through local organizations that deal with those who might be in need.
He said any money that was left over from the program was given to local charities, including Sheridan Media's Christmas Wish campaign.
