A love of carousels has prompted a young Buffalo girl to donate to the Cowboy Carousel Project with money she has found, collected and saved.
Madison Billings, 8, has donated an estimated $25 in loose change from her piggy bank, from coins found in couch cushions or pretty much anywhere else she can find them.
She has made two donations of bagged coins so far to the carousel project and has no intention of stopping until the carousel is up and running.
Madison said it took a couple of months to save the money she has donated so far.
She explains why she wanted to contribute to the project.
Madison said her favorite thing about carousels is how colorful they are.
Her favorite horse on the Cowboy Carousel is “Little Scout” because of the hand prints decorating him.
Madison's mom, Stephanie Billings, said she tries to teach her kids to “pay it forward” and do something nice for someone else or the community. She said the idea was all Madison's to contribute to the carousel project.
Madison is excited to see the project finished, and continually asks her mom to drive past the Beutler Building to see if anything has yet happened.
