For the first time, Sheridan's Local Food Expo will be joining with the Earth Day Festival on April 20 for what event planners say should be a massive event at Sheridan College's Golden Dome.
Bonnie Gregory, manager of the Sheridan Farmers' Market explains what attendees can expect from the food expo portion of the event.
The event will kick off on Friday, April 19 with a special beer, cheese and chocolate pairing at the Black Tooth Brewing Company's meeting room from 5 to 7 p.m. After that, there will be a forum where local food and drink producers will answer questions about backyard and commercial production.
Gregory describes the main event, which takes place on April 20.
She explains that decades ago, Sheridan used to be a banana belt of food production. Slowly but surely, she says she's noticing a renewed interest in the garden-to-table philosophy.
