The Sheridan Heights Ranch LLC, owned by the Don Roberts family, has donated 32 acres of land, including a pond, to the City of Sheridan.
The land is located west of Mydland Road, adjacent to West 5th Street, and is to be used for recreation and a future regional public park.
The news is coming from Don Roberts, who is the ranch manager. He said the family has always thought of the area as a natural fit for a city park and the Cloud Peak Ranch subdivision was designed, from the start, with that thought in mind, then backed up by a recent study conducted by the city.
He said the access point will be from Fifth Street and a future pathway system. For now, though, until planning and development of the park takes place, he said the land will continue to be used for farming.
