The local delegation representing Johnson and Sheridan County met Wednesday to determine the redistricting option that will be submitted to the Joint Corporations, Elections and Political Subdivisions Committee next week. Monday the delegation heard from Story residents at a public meeting where those in attendance overwhelmingly chose option “A Improved”, which changes the representation of the population of Story from Johnson to Sheridan County.
Under option “A Improved”, Representative Rosie Berger and Senator Bruce Burns would represent Story residents, who are currently represented by Senator John Schiffer and Representative Mike Madden. Sheridan County Clerk Eda Schunk-Thompson explains that some minor tweaks to the original option “A” is how they came up with option “A Improved”.
The recommendation will be reviewed by the Joint Corporations, Elections and Political Subdivisions Interim Committee at a public hearing Monday, September 19th from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Commissioner Board room in the Sheridan County Courthouse.
