(WY News Service) – The Wyoming Legislature saw fit to add staff to the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services with a new bill that's aimed at addressing workforce safety.
Wyoming Trial Lawyer's Association executive director Marcia Shanor is happy about the bill, and says that it will give much-needed money to businesses who should address the issue.
The report last year left at least one negative statement in a lot of people's minds saying that Wyoming lacked a “culture of safety” in the workplace. Shanor says it will take time and more work to bring about change.
House Bill 89 states that safety consultants will be made available to businesses. Consultants will inform businesses of violations without risk of fines as long as transgressions are corrected.
