The Chris LeDoux Memorial Park Dedication will take place this afternoon in Kaycee, Wyoming. The dedication of the park will include the unveiling of a life-and-a-half size bronze of LeDoux's legendary ride from 1976 where he won the Professional Rodeo World Championship in bareback riding in Oklahoma City. The sculpture was done over a four year period by artist D. Michael Thomas of Buffalo.
Event organizer Pam Kinchen says that prior to the dedication, there will be plenty to do in Kaycee.
The dedication will take place at 3 o'clock today, with a number of LeDoux's friends and family members on hand for the event.
Governor Dave Freudenthal says that LeDoux represented Wyoming very well.
Kinchen said that the festivities will continue after the dedication, as Chris's band the Western Underground will play from 4 pm to 6:30, then it's music by Chancy Williams and the Younger Brothers from 7 o'clock till 2:00 am.
