Women from all over the Cowboy State are invited to a special workshop to be held in Casper April 22nd and 23rd. Sheridan Media's Mary Jo Johnson has more.
The Wyoming Women's Legislative Caucus is hosting the 3rd Annual Leap into Leadership workshop at Casper College. Leadership workshops, speakers and networking are part of the 2-day event, and panelists will speak Friday, April 23rd at lunch about "Finding Your Voice."
The panel features Lola Spradley, the first woman in Colorado's history to be elected Speaker of the House, as well as Wyoming Senator E. Jayne Mockler, former Wyoming Representative Clarene Law, and Miss Wyoming 2009, Anna Nelson. Representative Rosie Berger discusses why Anna's participation was sought.
Of the 90 members of the Wyoming Legislature, only fifteen are women. In fact, from city councils to the state legislature, women in Wyoming hold less than 25% of political seats. So, what if there are women out there who may want to consider civic participation but think "there's nothing I can contribute"?
Cost for the workshop is $45, with a limited number of scholarships available. Wyoming women of all ages and professions are welcome to attend.
