The Lake DeSmet Counties Coalition hosted a meeting in Cheyenne December 20th with a number of entities interested in the modeling of water at Lake DeSmet.
Edith Johnson-LaMeares with the LDCC explains why the modeling is needed and when she expects it to be done.
A proposed lease agreement between the LDCC and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, agricultural and private water rights in the watershed complicate the modeling.
LaMeares said the marketing of the water will not be made public, but other aspects of the modeling will be made available.
The Johnson County Commission and City of Buffalo are looking into having their own modeling study done, in case industry should show interest in the lake in the future, stemming from NERD Gas looking into the possibility of building a natural gas to gasoline plant at the lake in the fall of 2011.
NERD Gas has since shifted their focus elsewhere for the plant.
