A campground in the Big Horn National Forest will be closed to the public for major renovations. Hannah Stepenoff has the story.
The Lake View Campground, located off of U.S. 16 about 38 miles from Buffalo, in the Bighorn National Forest will be closed starting July 21 and through the rest of the camping season for a major revamping.
Public affairs specialist Susan Douglas said the reconstruction project will upgrade the site to meet accessibility requirements. The plans involve the addition of seven new tent sites, new picnic tables and other furnishings and a replacement of the water system at the 50-year old campground.
The Campground reconstruction is part of a multi-year capital improvement project funded by the Rocky Mountain Region of the Forest Service. This is just one of many projects to be funded, she said, and other campgrounds will see renovations in 2015.
She said reservations for the remainder of the 2014 season at the campsite will be honored at nearby campgrounds. Campers can also request a refund. For contact information, go to this story on Sheridan Media Dot Com.
