Those attending the 29th annual Buffalo Lion's Club Lake DeSmet Fishing Derby this past Memorial Day Weekend dealt with some nasty weather during the derby, but had some success and some fun, according to Lions Club Chairman Keith Neustel, who recapped the weekend Monday afternoon.
Over $50,000 in cash and prizes were available for a chance to win this weekend, including tagged fish worth anywhere from $100 to $2,000 each, as Neustel said, and cash prizes for length and weight for a number of different species of fish available in the lake. There were also contests with prizes each day as well, and this year's grand prize was a Kawasaki 610 4x4 XC.
Neustel said everyone at the lake seemed to enjoy themselves and have fun during the long holiday weekend.
We'll have the full results and list of winners from this year's fishing derby tomorrow.
