The Lake DeSmet Counties Coalition Joint Powers Board currently consists of both private citizens and elected county commissioners from both Sheridan and Johnson Counties. However, at the Sheridan County Commissioner's bi-monthly meeting held Tuesday, a request to change the makeup of the DeSmet board was brought forth. Commissioner Steve Maier explains:
And the reason the commissioner's unanimously rejected the proposal, he says:
The Johnson County Commissioner who has served on the DeSmet board is Gerald Fink. However, Fink was defeated in this past election by John Gibbs, so Fink will soon return to being a “private,” rather than “public” citizen.
