Knitting Scarves For Monkeys (with Colds)

You may have seen some recent Robitussin commercials featuring a furry orange orangutan or a fluffy chimpanzee. What you may not have realized is these ads have a local connection. Sheridan Media's Betsy Love has the story:

The ads are a cute example of anthropomorphizing-- the chimps and orangutans walking through a supermarket or sitting by their laptop in bed, stuffy-nosed and coughing. And, wearing a bright green scarf.

That was Sheridan-raised Becky Kosma, who moved to Denver after high school. She has an online business and sells a variety of hand made crafts and other things. However, it wasn't until recently that she made 7-foot long scarves for orangutans and chimps.

Becky finished her job with Robitussin making giant scarves for non-human primates for now, she says—perhaps with a little relief:

Still, after pulling many “all-nighters” knitting green scarves, she is a little burnt out on knitting and the color green. So, she and her husband are planning a mostly non-green spring vacation:

And, luckily as well, she won't have to worry too much about running into many orangutans or chimps while relaxing in our blossom-flushed Capitol this spring.
