35-year-old Rockie King appeared before Judge John Fenn Tuesday morning, initially for a Pre-Trial Conference. He was awaiting trial on charges of Aggravated Assault & Battery and Child Abuse for an incident on November 16, 2009 in which he had allegedly choked and hit his 13-month-old daughter, causing bruising on her neck, face and eyes. She also appeared to have cut her lip, which made it bleed.
In the course of conducting the PTC, King indicated through his attorney, Erin Wardell, that he wanted to change his plea to “Guilty” as part of a plea agreement with the State.
He could face up to not less than four and no more than five years in prison, with credit for his pre-sentence confinement. Normally, Felony Child Abuse carries a sentence of not more than five years in prison, a fine of $10,000, or both.
Again, because of the very full court docket, a Pre-Sentence Investigation and the actually sentencing will take place at a later date.
