King Lane Water Line Approved By County

King Lane Water Line Approved By County

A water supply line on King Lane adjacent to the County Fire Hall Property and the King Property purchased last year by the county, looks to be moving ahead barring any major problems or unexpected costs cropping up.

The Johnson County Commissioners approved County Road And Bridge and Nelson Engineering to begin the project after reviewing it at their last meeting.

Jake Wright, Design Engineer with Nelson Engineering of Buffalo, explains the scope of the project.

The county and county fire will be looking at cost sharing in the project, which is expected to be aound $40,000 to complete.
The water line will be an 8-inch line on King Lane to the County Fire Hall Property where it will end with a fire hydrant. Possible future expansion of the water line could continue down King Lane, across the bridge and on into the fairgrounds.
Another possible expansion could be from the hydrant north into the King Property to service whatever is built on that county-owned property.

The State Department of Environmental Quality is currently reviewing the application and is expected to return with an approval or other recommendations within 60 days.
