Nearly a hundred kids took to the slopes, on sleds, Friday afternoon thanks to the YMCA, Century 21/BHJ and Sheridan Commercial Company. BHJ donated a hundred sleds to Sheridan families – and gave children ages 5 to 11 a chance to try them out on the hill at Kendrick Mansion above Kendrick Park.

The event was the brainchild of BHJ Realtor Bruce Garber, who explained that Century 21 is the official sponsor of the United States bobsled and skeleton teams in this year's Winter Olympics. He told Sheridan Media that, although Sheridan doesn't have any bobsledding around here, there is regular sledding. Sheridan Commercial owner Kurt Smith provided a popular brand of sled at a good price, and Sandy Sare at the YMCA arranged the field trip for the kids. The children made the trek from the YMCA to Kendrick Hill in four groups of 20 to 30 on Friday afternoon to enjoy the snowy fun.

The afternoon of sledding was followed by hot dogs.
