Kids Find Ways To Stay Cool In The Heat Of Summer

Temperatures topped 85 degrees in Sheridan yesterday and local children are finding ways to cool off. Sheridan Media News Director Kurt Layher caught them in the act.

Water is a very precious resource and has many uses, like drinking, showering, irrigation, and boating. It also provides a great way to cool off as summer temperatures rise. The Kendrick Park Swimming Pool offers fun for young and old… but if you just need a quick cooling off you can join 4-year-old Caden at the Whitney Commons splash fountain.

Many of the kids in the park have the timing down to a science. They brought their towels and camped out waiting for the fountains in the splash park to offer cool relief from the heat… and some fun, too.

It looks as if the water from the fountain is wasted but most of the water is actually recycled. The fountain draws water straight from the city water supply and drains around the fountain collect it in an underground tank. That tank is used to feed the irrigation system for Whitney Commons.
