Wednesday we reported that opening day of the Kendrick Park Pool would be postponed indefinitely because of a national recall of pool drain covers. Today, we have a clearer, and more positive update, on when swimmers can hit the water. Sheridan Rec District Recreation Specialist Nick Dore tells us the good news.
This is great news, actually, for Sheridan, because the rest of the country, Dore says, may not be so lucky.
The reason for the recall, Dore says, is that the drain covers were incorrectly rated to handle the flow of water through the covers, which can pose an entrapment hazard to swimmers.
For Kendrick, swim lessons begin Monday morning, June 6th, with recreational swimming starting later that afternoon. Cost for opening day is $.50 for all ages, all day.
