Our pets typically become frightened during thunderstorms, in particular, our canine friends. With thunderstorm season in full swing, Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter Executive Director Cel Hope says that keeping your dog indoors during storms and keeping calm yourself is the best thing to do to keep your dogs stress level at a minimum.
While that plan may work for most dogs, there are some, especially ones that are a bit longer in the tooth, that require a more complicated solution. Hope explains the options that pet owners have.
Cel said that if none of those options work to help keep your pooch calm during storms, you can always contact your veterinarian to see if prescription medication can help.
