The Buffalo/Johnson County Justice Center Joint Powers Board gave their quarterly report to the Johnson County Commissioners at their last meeting, discussing mechanical issues with the building that have been brought up in recent months.
Staff had reported there was no heat in the vehicle bay. Engineers and representatives from Groathouse Construction inspected the bay and found there were heaters installed. They are seperate units with seperate thermostats not controlled by the rest of the building's computerized controls.
A water valve under a sink that was suspected to have been installed backwards was inspected and found to be installed properly, and
other valves in the building were inspected as well and no problems existed with those either.
In other business, the JPB discussed an agreement with Johnson County Public Health for them to use the vehicle bay in the old jail which was currently being usee for storage.
Public Health will be using the bay to stockpile emergency materials that will be needed for an exercise or an actual emergency situation.
The bay has it's own heater to keep the materials from freezing.
The JPB approved the chair to sign the agreement.
