It was a balmy summer evening, just perfect for a picnic and that's what the one hundred-plus crowd did at the Sheridan Inn Friday night.
It was the first fundraiser of the summer to help with The Inn's operational costs and help stave off foreclosure of The Inn by the bank.
Jake Brooks, President of the Sheridan Heritage Center which owns The Inn says the weather was perfect for a fundraiser.
Just as the poor economy has affected much of Sheridan, Brooks says the economy has also has affected The Inn.
The operational costs include a monthly $3500 loan payment and insurance premiums of $15,000 each year, but history has no price tag.
A million dollars to pay off the loan, another million to finish the 2nd and 3rd floors, former legislator and city mayor Della Herbst says there is hope.
An icon and a gateway to our community, board member Sandi Ziler finds joy at The Inn.
Herbst has put her heart into The Inn.
There will be several more fundraisers throughout the summer.
