Jury Convicts Medicaid Fraudster

A man from Laramie County has been found guilty of multiple counts of Medicaid fraud.

The Wyoming Attorney General announced a jury found Ted Adekale guilty of fifteen felonies and a misdemeanor stemming from making false Medicaid claims.

Adekale previously worked at the Developmental Resource Center in Cheyenne helping developmentally challenged and mentally disabled Medicaid patients. An investigation conducted by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit uncovered evidence he had unjustly inflated bills and even charged patients for services they did not receive.

Fraud Control Unit Director, Christine Stickley, said it’s critical to weed out fraud and abuse to preserve the Medicaid system. According to www.stopwyomedicaidfraud.com, approximately three to ten percent of healthcare spending is lost to fraud. The site, sponsored by the Wyoming Department of Health, also has information about how to report suspected abuse of Medicaid.
