The Sheridan Junior High School hill stabilization project is going to have to be re-bid due to the fact that all of the bids that came in were over $1 million. School District Two Superintendent Craig Dougherty says the situation is a unique one, as there is a lot of history to the hill that sits east of the Junior High just above Big Goose Creek.

While the hill slide doesn't present any danger to the school, it could pose a problem to a portion of the parking lot if it isn't addressed soon.

Dougherty said that they will re-bid the project, and that they are hoping that the cost will be in the range of $850,000 to $1 million. The School Facilities Commission will fund $640,000 of the project through emergency funding, while the School District will pay for the rest of the project with major maintenance funds.
