The current legislation passed at the state level goes into effect July 1, and allows each judge to decide whether or not they will issue a blanket ban on deadly weapons in the courtroom. Judge Cundiff's order bans deadly weapons in the courtroom, its associated areas, and areas of the courthouse that would be used exclusively to approach the courtroom. However, pocket knives less than six inches long are still allowed. The ban does not extend throughout the entire courthouse.
