About two weeks into the 2011 Wyoming Legislative Session, Representative Jon Botten had told us about a bill he introduced to amend one of the pieces of National Guard legislation. The amendment, which passed the House, was to allow trained guardsmen to perform emergency work during a disaster, even if they aren't licensed in Wyoming.
Botten said that the Senate modified the bill right back, and it headed into Conference Committee.
Botten says that over the next couple of years, he would like to look more closely at the Homeland Security law. He explains.
He adds that finding people willing to take a couple years to put energy into a bill can be challenging, as it takes a lot of work to get a particular bill through.
