When tragedy hits, the people of Sheridan show up. 800 to 1,000 people it's estimated.

Saturday evening, a benefit was held at the YMCA to help ease the financial burdens faced by Kelli and Chauncy Johnson, who suffered tremendous loss while skiing at the Hogadon Ski Resort.

Traci Eisenman, coordinator for the benefit tells us.

Over $30,000, with a final total yet to come in, was raised. It was all about helping take the burden off another’s shoulders.

In addition to pizza and bar-b-que sandwiches, there were other activities supporters could join in on.

Kelli and Chauncy, both 1998 graduates of Sheridan High School, face a long road of recovery, both physically and emotionally.

Kelli is back home in Casper and continues to improve daily, but still is in the healing stages of recovery from her traumatic brain injury. Her right arm will require extensive outpatient physical therapy with several trips to Denver each week.
