Emergency Management Coordinator for Johnson County, Marilyn Connelly, put in a request to the County Commissioners at last week's meeting for them to authorize the White Powder Response Plan, and to authorize a preparedness exercise to be staged at the courthouse at a future date of her choosing.
Commission chair Smokey Wildeman read the request and the explanation during the meeting.
The commissioners voted to accept the plan and to allow Connelly to stage the exercise.
The exercise will help emergency responders in training for the proper procedures in dealing with an anthrax scare or an actual contamination.
The date of the exercise has not been determined as of yet.
