Johnson County Wellness Group Intros ASAP Program

At a luncheon Wednesday, the Johnson County Wellness Group presented a few items for discussion, including introducing a DVD bringing sexual violence in Johnson County to the public's attention.
The DVD, produced through the local group ASAP, or Ambassadors for Sexual Assault Prevention, featured a number of local people bravely sharing personal experiences and stories with the intention of making everyone aware that sexual violence occurs everywhere, even in Buffalo and Johnson County. Awareness is the first step, they said, in trying to prevent and ultimately end the violent assaults.
ASAP member Bill Hawley explains more about the DVD and its intended results.
Hawley said ASAP, through the video, and along with the help of like-minded organizations and groups willing to show it and discuss the issues, will hopefully make a difference in the community.
ASAP will be taking requests from groups and organizations to give the presentation. The hope is to give the presentation to students at the high school and possibly others, after those in the community have a chance to see the presentation and the DVD.
